Channel 3 Talks to Dr. Chandra About How to Prepare for Fall Time Change

(November 3, 2023) — Dr. Anuj Chandra, medical director of the Advanced Center for Sleep Disorders, spoke with WRCB Channel 3 about the upcoming “Fall back” time change on November 5.

Channel 3’s Latrice Currie interviewed Dr. Chandra about how the fall time change causes sleep disruption, even if you gain an extra hour of sleep.

“There’s a vast body of research that shows there’s increased risks of motor vehicle accidents” said Dr. Chandra. “There is increased risks of heart attacks, increased risks of strokes.”

Dr. Chandra offered advice for this weekend when the time changes:

  • Change the clock after you wake up, not before you go to bed
  • Spend more time outdoors to help reset your internal clock
  • Try to avoid napping for a few days
  • Turn off electronic devices an hour before bed
